September 16th Bend Summit
The AIA-SWO September Program will present a variety of topics on how Architects and related design professionals can get involved in local civic issues such as the UGB expansion and housing availability. There will also be a tour of the recently-completed OSU Cascades Tykeson Hall and a presentation on risk management related to housing types.
Noon: Meet at OSU Cascades Tykeson Hall for a 45-minute tour of the new building by Jane Barker, Architect and Senior Project Manager.
Then make your way to the Downtown Deschutes Public Library, Brooks Room. Lunch will be provided at the library.
1:00 pm: Update on the UGB process, led by Brian Rankin, Planning Manager with City of Bend
1:45 pm: Civic Engagement, led by Erin Foote Morgan, Executive Director of Bend 2030
3:00 pm: Interactive Session on Design Solutions for Housing Availability, led by Kim Gammond, COAR, and Seth Anderson, AIA, both members of the Housing Solutions Workgroup
4:00pm: Risk Management in Housing Types, led by Michael Robillard, Mountain View Insurance
5:00pm: Program Ends. But the fun begins at Bend Oktoberfest in Downtown Bend!
