AIA Grassroots 2017 Leadership Conference

Wednesday, March 8

Registration is open from 7am–6:30pm.

Pre-Grassroots Activities

8–9am and 9–10am Capitol Hill briefings (attend only one of the one-hour sessions)

9am–noon Capitol Hill visits

Noon Lunch will be provided for Pre-Grassroots Workshop attendees only

12:30–4:30pm Pre-Grassroots workshops

  • Workshop 1: Developing a Partnership between Board of Directors and Component Staff. Led by Glenn Tecker, Tecker International Consulting, Chairman & Co-CEO, Yardley, PA. Both the component executive and the component president and/or president-elect must attend together.          
  • Workshop 2: Implicit Bias and Its Impact on Leadership and Decision Making. Led by Dr. Shirley Davis CSP, President and CEO, SDS Global Enterprises, Tampa.

1–3pm Tours

Tours include:

  • The Smithsonian Arts and Industries Building
  • The National Gallery of Arts East Building

5:30–7pm Regional meetings

Dinner on your own.

Thursday, March 9

Registration and the member resources center is open from 6:30am–6:30pm.

7–8:15am Welcome breakfast. (During this time, CACE will be conducting round table discussions with their peers.)

8:30–11am  Opening plenary session

11:15am–12:30pm  Key 21st Century Issue Breakout Sessions

12:30–2:15pm Networking lunch

2:30–4pm Developing as a Leader workshops

4:15–5:45pm Developing as a Leader workshops. Learn more about the Grassroots workshops.

6–7:30pm Welcome reception at AIA headquarters                              

Friday, March 10

8–9am Networking peer group breakfasts

9:30–11am Developing as a Leader workshops. Learn more about the Grassroots workshops.

11am–1:45pm General session/lunch    

1:45–3pm Closing general session
