AIA/SWO is a component organization
of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
Our goals:
- To organize and unite in fellowship the
members of the architectural profession;
- Promote the aesthetic, scientific and practical
efficiency of the profession;
- Advance the science and art of planning
and building by advancing the standards of architectural education,
training and practice;
- Coordinate the building industry and the
profession of architecture to insure the advancement of the living
standards of people through their improved environment;
- Make the profession of ever-increasing service
to society.
We provide professional, collegial contact
among peers. Through AIA, we provide continuing education,
insurance, forms and publications. Chapter
meetings and events occur regularly. AIA-SWO also sponsors
the popular People's Choice Awards.
AIA/SWO is led by an executive
board elected by members. Our 2006 president is Artemio Paz,
AIA. Standing committees are another
way members get involved.
