This Thursday at Three
Welcome to 2012 and our first Thursday@3. We hope you're refreshed from the holidays and ready for a busy year ahead.

Cash Flow Crunch? Pay AIA Dues Slowly
You value your membership in the AIA but the dues are a little more than you can afford to pay right now. Why not consider the AIA's Installment Plan and spread payments out - up to six months!

Eligible renewing and new Architect, Associate, and International Associate and Allied (National only) memberships, without regard to hardship, may be enrolled online in the 2012 Dues Installment Program during October 2011 - April 30, 2012. Reinstating and New Graduate memberships, without regard to hardship, may be enrolled through a manual process (a form is available for download).

Please visit www.aia.org/join or www.aia.org/renew and you must enroll online.

CSI BUILD: January 24
Instead of a regular chapter meeting, every January AIA-SWO joins CSI and others for a program focused on economic forecasts for the area.

This event has become not only a day of rich technical education, but also a vibrant social and networking event for the entire design and construction community. Several other groups use this meeting as their January meeting as well. We sure enjoy the attendance and camaraderie of our local associations!

Click here for a brief summary of the day.

Peer-to-Peer QBS: Also January 24
When it rains, it pours. On the same day as the CSI BUILD event, you could also head north and take part in a half-day program about Oregon's QBS program.

Click here for a brief summary of the morning.

CSI Construction Industry Classes
On ten consecutive Tuesday evenings, starting on Jan. 3, the Willamette Valley Chapter of The Construction Specifications Institute (WVC/CSI) will again offer a seminar designed to give each participant an in-depth understanding of Construction Contract Documents including specifications, the bidding process, and contract administration.

Additionally, on eight Monday evenings, starting on Jan. 16, WVC/CSI will offer a seminar designed to give each participant an in-depth understanding of Construction Contract Administration.

The courses can be of significant value to Intern Architects, Clerical Staffs, and to the firms for whom they work. Additionally, the courses can be very helpful to those who are preparing to take a State Licensing Exam.

AIA Members can earn up 20 HSW-qualifying Continuing Education Learning Units (LU) which will be reported directly to AIA/CES.

Affiliates Wanted
The membership committee started the year with a lofty goal: 90 new affiliate members in 2011. You've probably seen an email or two from Heidi Peschel. A few of you have replied, and she's grateful. The rest of you should expect a phone call from Heidi pretty soon. (If you've worked with Rubensteins Contract Carpet, you know that no one successfully hides from Heidi and her cohorts.)

She's looking for leads, candidates, referrals. Who would you like to see join AIA-SWO as an affiliate? You could save yourself (and Heidi) a little trouble by clicking here. (Thanks.)
